Schulman, Inc. Online Data Protection Rules

Schulman, Inc. (“ASI”) thanks you for your interest in our company.

At ASI, data protection has the highest priority. In the course of doing business with ASI, we may be processing your personal data, which is defined as any information relating to an identifiable person who can be directly or indirectly identified in particular by reference to an identifier (“Personal Data”). This document is designed to provide you with important information on our Personal Data handling and processing, how we are following the rules for data protection at ASI, which information we gather, including while you are browsing our website (the “ASI Site”), and how this information is used.

Collecting and processing Personal Data

First and foremost, ASI will only obtain Personal Data by lawful and fair means and, where appropriate, with the knowledge and consent of the individual concerned.  Personal Data is only collected when you provide us with this in the course of, say, registration, by filling out forms or sending emails, and in the course of ordering products or services, inquiries or requests for material.

Your Personal Data remains with ASI, our affiliates, and our third data processors acting on our behalf and responsible to us. Your Personal Data will not be passed on by us or by our agents for use by third parties in any form whatsoever, unless we have obtained your consent or are legally required to do so. In cases when Personal Data is provided to others to provide you products or services you have requested, or for other purposes you have authorized, we rely on technical and organizational means to assure that applicable data security regulations are followed.

The Personal Data that we do collect will only be used in order to perform our duties to you and for any other purpose only when you have given specific consent. You can adjust your consent for the use of your Personal Data at any time with an email to the effect that you revoke your consent in the future to DataProtection@aschulman.com.

Personal Data will be processed in accordance with applicable law, regulation and policy, and in accordance with the legal rights of the individual. The collection of Personal Data is limited to that necessary for the purposes identified in ASI's notice or communication with affected individuals.

Usage, Log Data & Cookies

When you visit the ASI Site, general information is collected automatically (in other words, not by means of registration) which is not stored as personal related data. The web servers that are used store the following data by default:

  • The name of your internet service provider;
  • Your IP address;
  • Browser type;
  • Language; and
  • Date and time of visit;

This information is analyzed in an anonymous form. It is used solely for the purpose of improving the attractiveness, content, and functionality of our website. Where data is passed on to external service providers, we have taken technical and organizational measures to ensure that the data protection regulations are observed.

On the ASI Site, we may also use two types of cookies. “Cookies” are small data files, typically made up of a string of text and numbers, which assign you a unique identifier. A “client cookie” is sent to your browser so that our systems remember your requests and keep track of the pages you view on our Site and which services you use. A “server cookie” is maintained on our system to recognize you when you return to the Site. This information allows us to better administer the ASI Site and provide a more tailored and user-friendly service to you. You may set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie or to prevent cookies from being sent; if so, you may limit the functionality we can provide you when you visit our Site.

Other companies that provide services on the ASI Site, that provide a co-branded version of the ASI Site, or that advertise or link on the ASI Site, may use cookies or collect other information about you when you go to their website. ASI does not control the collection or use of information by these companies. You should contact these companies directly if you have any questions about their collection or use of information about you.

ASI strives to have in place appropriate means to protect your information. We also require that other parties with whom we share our information provide an appropriate level of security.

Automated decision-making and profiling

Your Personal Data will not be used for automated-decision making or profiling.

Data retention

We store Personal Data for as long as it is necessary to perform a service that you have requested or for which you have granted your permission, providing that no legal requirements exist to the contrary such as in the case of retention periods required by trade or tax regulations.

You have the right to exercise the following rights:

  • Access your data to check and review them;
  • Have a copy of your Personal Data;
