Joseph M. Gingo
Chief Executive Officer and President
Joseph M. Gingo is Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of A. Schulman, from whom he served in this capacity from 2008-2014. From 2014 until 2016, he served as the Company’s Chairman of the Board. Previously, Mr. Gingo was employed at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for more than 40 years. From June 2003 through December 2007, he was Executive Vice President, Quality Systems and Chief Technical Officer at Goodyear. In this role he was responsible for Goodyear's Research, Tire Technology and Engineering and Quality organizations. Prior to that, he held numerous domestic and international leadership positions in the company's technical organization and business units including Asia, Aviation Products, Off-The-Road Tires, Engineered Products and Racing. Mr. Gingo earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve University), and a law degree from the University of Akron. He received a master's degree in business management from the Sloan Fellowship program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Gary A. Miller
Chief Operating Officer
Gary A. Miller is the Chief Operating Officer for A. Schulman. In this role, he is responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of the Company's global operations. He joined A. Schulman in 2008 as its Vice President, Global Supply Chain and Chief Procurement Officer. Previously, Mr. Miller was with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for more than 40 years, including responsibility for the company’s global purchasing activities for 16 years. His positions at Goodyear included Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer for the company and president of Goodyear/SRI, Global Purchasing Company, a joint venture between Goodyear and Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. Mr. Miller earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University; the Executive Program at Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Virginia; and Kellogg School for Graduate Studies, Northwestern University.
Chief Commercial Officer
Gary Phillips serves as the Company’s Chief Commercial Officer. In this role, he is responsible for driving profitable revenue growth on a global basis. Prior to joining A. Schulman, Mr. Phillips served as the vice president and general manager of Comcast Cable in West Palm Beach, Florida. From 2001 through 2012, he held various roles of increasing responsibility with Centurylink – and its predecessor company Qwest Communications – where he ultimately served as the vice president of business markets/central region. He began his career with Motorola Corporation in 1983, before taking leadership roles with MCI Telecommunications Corp, eSpire Communications and Metromedia Fiber Network/AboveNet Communications. Phillips received a Bachelor of Arts in Managerial Economics from Marietta College.
Senior Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific
Derek Bristow is Senior Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific, for A. Schulman. Mr. Bristow joined A. Schulman with the Company’s acquisition of ICO, Inc. in 2010. During his 12-year tenure with ICO, he held various leadership positions before ultimately being named ICO’s President, Europe and Asia in 2008. Mr. Bristow holds a master of business administration degree from Deakin University, Australia, a post-bachelor’s degree in polymer engineering from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Natal University, South Africa.
Senior Vice President and General Manager, EMEA
Heinrich Lingnau serves as A. Schulman’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, EMEA. Mr. Lingnau, who has served in this capacity since 2013, joined A. Schulman in 1999 as a regional business leader in engineered plastics before transitioning into various management-level positions within the Company’s European operations. Prior to joining A. Schulman, he spent 11 years at DuPont where his positions included product management and market development for various business units in Europe. Mr. Lingnau received a degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on plastic technology from the University of Aachen/Germany.
Senior Vice President and General Manager, Latin America
Gustavo Pérez is A. Schulman’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, Latin America. From 2010 to 2015, he served as the Company’s General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Americas. Since joining A. Schulman in 1995 as a Finance Manager of the Mexican subsidiary, Mr. Pérez has held various leadership positions, including General Manager, Masterbatch for the Company’s North America operations from 2008 to 2010. Prior to joining A. Schulman, he was an Audit Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Pérez holds a master of business administration degree from the University of Quebec in Montreal and is a certified public accountant.
Senior Vice President and General Manager, US, Canada and Engineered Composites
Frank Roederer is Senior Vice President and General Manager of both the Company’s United States and Canada business and its Engineered Composites business. Mr. Roederer has held various global positions of increasing responsibility since being named the Company’s specialty powders (“SP”) business unit director in 2013. Prior to joining A. Schulman, he was the general manager of strategic planning and corporate performance management for SABIC, after overseeing W.R. Grace & Co.’s supply chain in Europe, Middle East and Asia for three years. He began his career at The Dow Chemical Company in 1996, where he held various global leadership positions throughout his 10-year tenure. He holds an operations management and marketing degree from Fachhochschule Offenburg, and a master of business administration from Schiller International University.
