A. Schulman offers a wide range of thermoplastic materials for the sports & leisure market. From PP to TPE, nylon to specialized engineering alloys, we partner with our customers to provide the best product solution. Our expertise in color provides the additional value needed for attractive and functional consumer products.

The range of key performance requirements for sports & leisure applications include:

  • Impact strength
  • Low temperature performance
  • Aesthetics
  • Colorability
  • Weatherability

Where impact strength and toughness are critical requirements

Certain applications need enhanced impact strength and toughness across a range of environmental temperatures. Winter sports equipment such as snow shoes, skis and snowboards require binding components that can withstand subzero temperatures. For a wide range of sport and leisure applications these properties are often critical for end-use performance.

A. Schulman offers a range of impact nylon compounds in both reinforced and unreinforced PA 6 and PA 66. Fracture is all but eliminated, and the resistance to crack propagation is significantly reduced. Schulamid high impact compounds offer better damping and higher flexural fatigue strength than standard glass fiber-reinforced grades.

When highest performance is needed

SCHULAMID® 66 SK1000 is the optimal super high impact grade for extremely impact-sensitive applications. With outstanding impact resistance and toughness and very good rigidity, it offers the highest degree of tenacity at even low temperatures.

SCHULAMID® 66 MV HI K1416 is a very high impact grade, and is the most appropriate and cost effective solution for many applications.

SCHULAMID® 66 MV HI TST is the latest innovation that offers exceptional tenacity and excellent price-performance balance. This high impact grade is ideally suited for applications that do not require the highest performance of SCHULAMID® 66 SK1000 or SCHULAMID® 66 MV HI K1416.
