A. Schulman offers a wide range of products for a variety of applications in the appliance industry. Several products are currently being used in hand irons, coffee makers, washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, microwaves, and blenders.

A. Schulman works closely with the designers to develop UL approved products that withstand high heats, impact strengths, and continuous high temperature exposure. These products are easily processable in most machines. Providing a wide range of compounds that meet the very tight color tolerance demanded by appliance designers is A. Schulman’s specialty.

A. Schulman assists part designers in selecting from a wide variety of products, such as PP compounds, ABS, Nylon, and PBT compounds, to determine the most economical option based on the requirements of the part. A. Schulman has also been known to assist customers by developing materials to suit their existing mold designs and shrink tolerances. A. Schulman technology centers have the capability to perform trials for small, intricate parts by injecting into them a wide range of materials in order to see the quality of the surface appearance. Laser markable pigments are also available as an option in the formula, where laser marking is used on the molded part.

A. Schulman offers a wide range of flame retardant compounds based in PE, PP, PVC, PS, ABS, Nylon and PBT for the appliance industry. All of these products are UL approved, and several products have the European approvals for use in appliances. Most products approved by UL in the flame retardant product range carry a UL94, V-0 or V-1, or V-2 or HB rating. These products are widely used by several global producers of television yokes, wire nuts, and electrical outlet covers. The POLYFLAM® product range also includes products that are non-halogenated, and some formulations are free from decabromobiphenyloxide.

The SCHULAMID® range of A. Schulman's Polyamide compounds is widely used in the industrial power tool housing of hand drills and power saws. A. Schulman is a leader in providing materials that offer excellent impact strength, stiffness, high temperature resistance, and weather and color fastness. This leadership has been proven in a wide range of applications. Indeed, A. Schulman is the preferred supplier for many USA and European appliance producers, and has been for the past two decades.

A. Schulman also has the capability to supply materials for the Chinese, South American, and Eastern European markets, where a significant amount of parts are made and assembled. Manufacturing locations and warehouses are located in the above regions, allowing A. Schulman to provide materials for customers located in these areas.
